Lectors are proclaimers of the Word of God at Saturday/Sunday and Holy Day Masses. They ask God to fill them with the Holy Spirit as they proclaim the Scriptures, with their goal being to enhance the experience of the liturgy for all who listen. Lectors strive to help bring the printed word to life, giving a voice to God’s Word. This ministry requires a strong belief in the truth proclaimed in Scripture. Additionally, lectors need a loud, clear voice and should be comfortable speaking to large groups.
Lectors must be high school-aged or older to join this ministry, be available to meet for formation several times per year, and new participants must attend a training with ministry-head, Sophie Gaylor. Lectors are generally scheduled to read one to four times over a two month period and can indicate preferred Mass times and exclusion dates. Please call the Parish Office for more information.
